Aged 63 Karen Blixen is at the pinnacle of her fame and next in line to win the Nobel Prize for literature. It has been 17 years since she gave up her famous farm in Africa only to return to Denmark with her life in ruins. Blixen is best known for Out of Africa (1985), an account of her life while living in Kenya that was brought to the screen by Sydney Pollack in 1985 and won 7 Academy Awards. Bille August is the director behind the Oscar winning film Pelle the Conqueror (1987) and House of Spirits (1993), starring Meryl Streep. Recently Bille directed the period drama A Fortunate Man (2018).
